The Plastic Problem

The Plastic Problem

Every year, Canadians throw away million tonnes of plastic waste, only 9% of which is recycled, meaning the vast majority of plastics end up in landfills and about 29,000 tonnes finds it way into our natural environment.

Canada alone uses about 4.6 million metric tonnes of plastic every year – that is roughly 125 kilograms per person! That number is predicted to grow more to than 6 million metric tonnes by 2030.

What is a Compostable Bioplastic?

Bioplastics or Biopolymers are made of plant based starches. They can be broken down completely into CO2 and water under specific conditions by naturally occurring microorganisms without leaving any harmful residues behind.
